How do you build a career that lasts?
Do the right things over and over again.
How do you build a relationship with your spouse that lasts?
Do the right things over and over again.
How do you get out of debt?
Do the right things over and over again.
How do you walk in forgiveness and God's power?
Do the right things over and over again.
Consistently doing what is the right thing, the noble thing, the thing of excellence yields a harvest of peaceable fruit. We need to make choices for what the result will be, rather than 'hoping' or wishing for the result and then making a choice.
I wish, I wish, I wish, I wish! STOP IT! Press in, press forward, have backbone, press forward, maintain!! CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY, what we CONSISTENTLY do is what will yield the fruit of tomorrow. Doing the right thing for a long time is what brings victory! Doing the right thing over and over again.
People go on diets and change their behaviour for a week- and say it 'doesn't work'. The reality is what they do consistently is what will affect how they are. Same with money, same with cleaning a house, raising kids, you name it.
When we desire to live a victorious life, a life that is overcoming, a life that is not influenced by the world but is influencing the world, we must consistently be in the Word. GOD SPEAKS to us thru His Word.... if we spend 2 hours a week in the Bible, don't be surprised if God's voice is faint. If we spend 1 hour each day, expect that kind of result in your week. If we spend 2 hours in the Word a day, expect the same result. What we reap, we sow.
Our life is not much different than anyone else's, we've all been hurt. Time to stop looking for reasons why our life is so far different than others. We've all got our trials we all have our
troubles- we are not victims, we are victorious.
We all have to put our trust in God. We all have to overcome the devil. We all have to press in and press past the feelings- FEELINGS keep people from going forward more than anything.
The believer's number one struggle is with emotions. We want to blame things on someone else. When we realize we have to stop blaming others, we need to take ownership of our feelings and our own attitudes. It's painful to find something wrong with me- it's not painful to find something wrong in someone else.
WE cannot change others- ONLY God can get inside someone else and change someone. We cannot change people- we can force people to behave a certain way, but the problem in them is only changeable by God. When we see things in others, we need to ask God to change us. SOME of the things we see in others, might just be in us.
The things we see in others might NEVER change. If we let God, He'll change us so much we could care less about how others are. He'll change us to the point that we won't be so defensive, we won't be so offended so easily. When we walk with Him on a daily basis and seek His advise, His opinion, His wisdom, we'll begin to see more of what needs changing in ourselves before we see what needs changing in others.
The reality is, no discipline seems joyous initially, but later on if trained by it, it will yield the peacable fruit of those that are trained by it. If we want anything to change in our lives, we need to do what is required to get that change. Stop spending more than you earn. Stop eating more than you need to eat. Stop listening to gossip. Stop walking around asking God for help and not spending time in His word. No one can do it for us, we have to do it. And no discipline seems joyous initially, but when we are trained by it, we will yield the fruit.
Consistency, the world needs someone who is consistent. Someone with an excellent spirit. Someone who can be trusted to do what is right.
